Revenues increase 28 per cent to $598m for Dubai-based telecoms operator
Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company’s (Du) revenues grew 28 per cent to AED2.2bn ($598m) in the third quarter compared with the same period last year. The operator announced a 50 per cent rise in net profits at AED489m for the third quarter of this year. The rise is attributed to increased usage among customers and a higher number of post-paid customers.
Mobile data revenues increased 46 per cent year-on-year to AED167m, making up 9.8 per cent of total mobile revenues, which rose 31 per cent in the third quarter to AED1.7bn.
“We have maintained our positive trajectory, achieving strong, profitable growth. We continue to attract new customers and we are seeing our existing customers further increase their use of data,” says Osman Sultan, chief executive officer of Du.
Du now has 4.9 million subscribers, taking up a 45 per cent share of the UAE mobile market.
