Mobile operator to offer 3G services
Dubai-based telecoms provider Du is investing AED400m ($109m) to upgrade its second generation (2G) mobile network. The company has awarded the contract to Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) to introduce Du’s 3G network and make accessible connection speeds of up to 42Mb.
“Nokia Siemens Networks will help us upgrade and modernise our network to improve coverage,” says Hatem Bamatraf, senior vice president of network development, Du.
NSN will provide the equipment and services across the network to expand voice and mobile internet services like browsing, email, mobile TV and video mail.
Du is the UAE’s second telecoms service provider. It recently launched a digital content service called Anayou.
