Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) has awarded a contract to the Etihad Energy Services Company (Esco) for the contract to design and install photovoltaic (PV) solar systems for water reservoirs.
The total capacity of the PV solar systems will be about 60MW, according to a statement released by Dewa. Etihad will design and install the PV systems for the water reservoirs. Work on the solar installations will begin in the fourth quarter of 2017.
Etihad Esco is a Dewa company, which was formed in 2013 to assist with the emirate’s ambitious targets for developing renewable energy and improving the efficiency of buildings.
Dubai has set a target of developing 7 per cent of Dubai’s total power output from lean energy by 2020, 25 per cent by 2030 and 75 per cent by 2050.
