Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) has awarded a contract worth AED192.7m ($52.4m) to US-based GE to upgrade gas turbines at the Jebel Ali Power & Desalination E Station.
Work to upgrade the GE 9E turbines will begin in the first quarter of 2019 and will be completed in the first quarter of 2021.
GE is currently working on the development of Dewa’s Hassyan clean-coal project, which will have a capacity of 2,400MW when completed.
