Dubai awards more than $400m of road construction deals

Three contracts cover work in Jebel Ali and Al-Quoz

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded road construction contracts totalling more than $400m as it continues to upgrade Dubai’s road network.

Beijing-based China State Construction Engineering Corporation has been awarded an estimated AED793m ($216m) deal covering the Comprehensive Improvements of the Parallel Roads corridor on Al-Yalayis and Al-Asayel roads in the Jebel Ali area.

The consultant for the project is US-based Parsons.

Turkey’s Gunal Mapa has been awarded an estimated AED425m contract for the improvement of Interchange 7 in the Jebel Ali port area. The consultant is the local office of Aurecon.

The local National Contracting & Transportation Company (NCTC), with a price of AED286m, has been awarded the deal to upgrade Latifa Bint Hamdan Street in the Al-Quoz area. The consultant is US-headquartered CDM Smith.

In February, the RTA awarded India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T) an estimated AED500m contract to upgrade Tripoli Road in the Mirdif area.

The road provides a link between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road. The consultant is Aurecon.
