Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) has awarded a contract to Germany’s Siemens to build a high-voltage substation at Mushrif.

The €26m ($34m) contract covers 132kV switchgear, power transformer, shunt reactors, and a full monitoring system for the 132/33kV substation.

The substation will replace existing transmission and distribution infrastructure owned by Dewa.

The project, which will be completed over 18 months, also includes a 132/33kV, 75MVA power transformer, four shunt reactors, complete balance of plant equipment, civil design and construction works.
