Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded two contracts worth a total of AED1.29bn ($350m) to upgrade sections of Al-Khail road.

A contract worth AED852m for phase two of the scheme has been awarded to Turkey’s Gunal Construction Company. The works involve the construction of two multi-level interchanges to replace two roundabouts in the Al-Quoz area.

The local ETA Ascon Group has been awarded a AED438m contract to upgrade the road between the Umm Suqeim junction up to the junction of Emirates road, as part of the third phase of the project. It includes widening the road, and constructing two flyovers.

The local Emirates Road Contracting was awarded the first phase of the scheme earlier this year (MEED 30:5:08).
