Dubai Contracting to build Meydan tower

10 February 2008
The local Dubai Contracting Company (DCC) has been awarded the contract to build a mixed-use tower at the new Meydan City development in the Ras al-Khor area.

The 26-storey tower includes two basements, a ground level, and five podium floors. It will have high-end residential, commercial and office space. The total built-up is about 30,000 square metres.

The joint venture of local Arabtec Construction and Malaysia's WCT was awarded the estimated AED4.6bn ($1.3bn) contract to build the 60,000-capacity grandstand at Meydan City racecourse last year.

The grandstand is the main attraction of the Meydan City development, which will cover 7.5-million square metres and include a 4-kilometre-long canal that will run from Dubai Creek to the racecourse. The facilities will include a marina, shopping mall, museum and golf course (MEED 12:10:07).
