Project stalled in 2009 after Dubai’s property bubble burst

Local developer Dubai Properties Group says it will complete 348 villas and townhouses at its Mudon development.

The developer, which is part of Dubai Holding, says it has restarted work on phase one and plans to complete the 348 units within 18 months, in response to growing demand for villas.

Work on the project, which is located behind the Polo Club on Al-Qudra road, stalled in 2009 as property prices in the emirate plummeted.

Beijing-based China State Construction Engineering Corporation was working on two building packages totalling AED245m.

The local Wade Adams was working on the infrastructure.

The Mudon scheme was originally designed to will provide housing for about 42,000 people and it will have five districts reflecting the architecture of Baghdad, Beirut, Cairo, Damascus and Marrakech.

The local Dewan Architect & Engineers was the consultant for the buildings. The US’ Aecom, was the infrastructure consultant. UK-based Mace International was the project manager.
