Dubai retenders second phase of Hassyan power project

13 October 2008

Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) has retendered phase 2 of the P Station power and water project at Hassyan.

The deadline for bids is 30 December.

The plant will have capacity of 1,500MW of power and 100-120 million gallons a day (g/d) of desalinated water.

Bidders can submit an offer for the power package or the desalination package, or both (MEED 15:5:08).

Bids for phase 2 were first submitted on 30 April, at the same time as bids for phase 1, but Dewa deemed the prices to be too high for both contracts.

The first phase of the project, with a capacity of 120 million g/d of desalinated water and 1,500MW of power, was retendered in May. In July Dewa received eight bids for the contract (MEED 22:7:08).
