Dubai rolls out ITS project

Dubai Municipality has invited companies to prequalify by 24 November for a contract to supply and install an intelligent transport system (ITS). Called Falcon Dubai, the estimated AED 85 million ($23 million) project will be carried out in two phases (MEED 5:7:02).

The scope of works includes the installation of a traffic management and traveller information system, signage and real-time information for motorists and related facilities.

The motorways to be covered under the ITS project include the Sheikh Zayed highway, Garhoud bridge and Shindagha tunnel. The US' Wilbur Smith & Associates has designed the proposed ITS.
