Abdullah Mohamed Saleh takes over as governor of Dubai International Financial Centre
Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid al-Maktoum has appointed Abdullah Mohamed Saleh as the governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
He replaces Ahmed Humaid al-Tayer with immediate effect, according to a statement issued on Sheikh Mohammad’s website.
No explanation has been given Saleh’s appointment, who was the chairman of the Dubai Financial Services Authority.
Al-Tayer assumed the role of governor of the DIFC in November 2009. He was also replaced as chairman of Emirates NBD in June by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum.
The DIFC was established in 2004 with its own regulations and international stock market to attract foreign financial institutions to the emirate.
