Client confirms that Silicon Park project is on track
Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) is preparing to issue tenders for a new AED1.1bn ($299m) mixed-use development.
Muammar Khaled al-Katheer, executive vice president engineering management for DSO, told MEEDs Destination Dubai 2020 conference on 28 January that the Silicon Park project will be tendered soon.
Al-Katheer said that the local Dar Consult, which has been appointed as the main consultants, is working with other sub-consultants to finalise project designs. DSO launched the Silicon Park mixed-use project in March 2014.
Spanning an area covering 150,000 square metres, Silicon Park will contain a mix of office, commercial and residential space. The development will also offer a 115-room business hotel.
Touted as the first smart community to be built at DSO, Silicon Park will be built with green building materials and control mechanisms, solar panels and double-glazed windows to reduce heat absorption.
Al-Katheer also went on to say that he is confident the authorities are developing the right synergies between the private and public sector to enable such projects to be delivered successfully.
