Successful contractor to furnish hotels and lounges

Dubai’s Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) has invited firms to submit bids by 10 February for an estimated $75m interior fit-out contract at the third concourse of Dubai International Airport.

The successful bidder will fit out and furnish the concourse’s four-star and five-star hotels, as well as two lounges. The prospective bidders include local companies such as Alec, Depa, Cloisal and Leader.

Concourse 3 is one of Dubai’s largest projects. The 528,000-square-metre building will connect to Dubai International airport’s Terminal 3, which is already complete.

When it opens in 2012, the new concourse will have 20 aircraft stands, including 18 for the Airbus A380 superjumbo.

Alec is working on the $1.3bn main construction deal for the concourse, which includes the fit-out and finishing work for the concourse building itself. The local ETA Ascon Group is working on the $435m mechanical, electrical and plumbing contract.

The local Al-Naboodah Contracting is working on the concourse’s concrete structure and surrounding infrastructure. Cleveland Bridge, also local, is building the steel structure of the concourse (MEED 23:11:09).
