15 May 2008
The Engineer’s Office of Dubai has invited companies to express interest in the first phase works for the International Humanitarian City project at Dubai World Central, at the same location as Jebel Ali International Airport.

The works involve the construction of five warehouses with a built-up area of 31,000 square metres for the UN, one six-floor office building with a total built-up area of about 12,500 square metres and associated external works. The overall project involves the construction of seven office buildings, a UN building and 28 warehouses.

Construction is scheduled to start in June and completion of the warehouses is expected in January 2009. The office building is due to be completed in May.

Beirut-based Dar al-Handasah (Shair and Partners) is the consultant.
