Dubai to extend hotel discount promotion

05 February 2009

Dubai is aiming to boost occupancy in its hotels by attracting more tourists from within the region and extending its hotel room-rate discounts beyond the Dubai Shopping Festival, which ends on Feb 15, reported The National. The emirate's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing believes that the economic downturn will lead to a shift to the short-haul market, so it plans to promote Dubai to short-haul destinations. As a further boost, DTCM plans to extend its room rate discount promotion, under which hotels are slashing rates up to 60%, till at least the end of the March.
