Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) has invited consultants to submit proposals for the contract to conduct a natural gas and distribution feasibility study for the emirate.
Consultants have been invited to submit proposals by 18 December for the consultancy deal.
In 2016, gas and steam turbines contributed for 74 per cent of total power generation in the emirate, with steam turbines accounting for 25 per cent of the total. With Dewa undertaking a major renewable energy programme to diversify its fuel mix, with 200MW of solar coming online in 2017, gas will make up less of the total generation mix in the coming years. However, in 2030, it will still account for producing the majority, 61 per cent, of the emirate’s electricity generation.
