Dutco Balfour Beatty awarded hotel tower on Sheikh Zayed road

The local/UK Dutco Balfour Beatty has been awarded the AED840m ($229m) contract to build a hotel tower in the Al-Barsha area of Dubai, on Sheikh Zayed road.

The 45-storey hotel is designed to resemble a sailing ship, and will sit alongside the Al-Sufouh interchange, between Mall of the Emirates and interchange 4.5. Construction of the superstructure is expected to start in May.

Germany's Ed Zueblin has completed the foundations.

The consultant is Lebanon's Khatib & Alami. New Zealand's Beca is the project manager. The local Al-Ali Property Investments is the client (MEED 22:1:08).
