Developer presses ahead with large masterplanned community project

UAE developer Eagle Hills has appointed a main contractor for a new scheme at the Marassi al-Bahrain masterplanned community.

The local Dadabhai Construction will start work soon on the Marassi Shores Residences.

The $270m project will be built on an 8,000 square metre plot of land, and will be made up of an 11-storey building that will include 287 residential units.

The project’s lead architect was the UK’s Grimshaw Architects, while Beirut-based Dar al-Handasa is the lead consultant on the scheme.

Earlier this year MEED, reported that Eagle Hills had launched a new scheme, also at its Marassi al-Bahrain community.

The project, which will be called Marassi Boulevard, will be made up of four low-rise buildings, with 240 residential units and a retail area of approximately 180,000 square metres, according to a company statement.

Both projects will be developed within the Marassi al-Bahrain development, which upon completion, will be home to 22,000 residents with a total of 6,000 residences and a total retail space of 250,000 square metres, adding 1,200 jobs to the area.

The project is being developed 20 minutes from Manama International Airport, in the Diyar al-Muharaq area.
