Construction of facility is second phase of Minya waste management scheme
Egypt has invited companies to submit expressions of interest (EOI) to build a municipal solid waste plant in the Minya governorate of upper Egypt.
Companies have until 20 September to express interest in the second phase of the Solid Waste Management in Minya scheme. Tender documents are expected to be issued by mid-October.
The project is being overseen by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Minya Governorate and the Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs.
The project to modernise the solid waste management and recycling systems in the urban areas in the Minya governorate was launched in 2011, initially funded by the Italian Egyptian Debt for Development swap programme.
The Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs, launched a project in 2011, funded by the Italian Egyptian Debt for Development Swap Programme, with the objective of supporting and modernizing the solid waste management and recycling systems in the urban areas in Minya governorate.
