Biography: Eid Abdullah Yousuf al-Yaqoub has been deputy chairman of the board of the General Organisation of Sea Ports since 2006. Prior to this, Al-Yaqoub was president of customs and ports at the Finance Ministry.

Earlier, he served as chairman of the board of the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard, the United Arab Shipping Company, the Arab Maritime Petroleum Transport Company and the Middle East Navigation Aids Services. The General Organisation of Sea Ports oversaw the development of Khalifa bin Salman Port, which opened in April 2009.

Al-Yaqoub holds a second marine officer certificate from Southampton in the UK and a diploma in marine shipping management studies from Sweden and also Egypt. Al-Yaqoub was the youngest GCC citizen to qualify as a marine pilot in 1970.
