Eight bidders vie for Marmul field development

Local and international contractors are preparing to submit technical bids by 1 December for a contract to undertake the third-phase development of the Marmul field in the south of the sultanate.

Companies include four local firms Bahwan Engineering Company, Al-Hassan Engineering, Gulf Petroleum Services & Trading, and Special Technical Services. International firms include: Dubai-based Dodsal, Egypt’s Enppi, Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company and an unidentified Chinese contractor.
Marmul Central Development Phase 3, is aimed at providing additional surface facilities at the Marmul main production station to increase water handling capacity to 55,000 cubic metres a day (cm/d) from 25,000 cm/d to accommodate improved reservoir recovery techniques.
The engineering, procurement and construction contract also covers an expansion to the Thuleilat gathering centre with the aim of doubling its water handling capacity to 60,000 cm/d, increasing its water injection capacity to 30,000 cm/d and its oil export capacity to 15,000 cm/d (MEED 4:5:07).
Commercial bids are due to be submitted on 7 January. The client is Petroleum Development Oman.
