El-Baradei to report on Iraq nuclear programme one month early

25 February 2003
The latest report on Iraq's nuclear weapon programme will be presented to the UN Security Council on 7 March, one month earlier than originally planned, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on 25 February.

IAEA head Mohamed el-Baradei will join Hans Blix in reporting on that day instead of on 11 April. Analysts forecast that an attack against Iraq could take place by the end of March. The IAEA said that it still hoped to forge ahead with weapons inspections in Iraq, despite the draft UN resolution that, if approved, could give the legal authority for war.
