Kentz Group has been awarded the $208m contract for the design, supply and delivery of the main electrical systems for the Sidra Medical & Research Centre in Doha.
The Jersey-incorporated Kentz Group will work for the main contractor, a joint venture between Spain’s OHL and US-based Contrack International.
Located at Education City on the outskirts of Doha, the $2.3bn Sidra complex will include a nine-storey hospital and accommodation for 350 nurses.
The hospital, which is due to open in 2011, will have around 380 beds.
It will also serve as the primary teaching hospital of Weill Cornell Medical College Qatar, a branch of the New York-based medical school.
The scheme will be supported by a $7.9bn endowment from the foundation.
The project manager on Education City is the local office of KEO International Consultants.
Project construction is being handled by Qatar Petroleum on behalf of the client, the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science & Community Development (MEED 12:11:08).
