The Oman Power & Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has received prequalification entries from 11 groups for the planned Ghubrah 3 independent water project (IWP).
MEED reported in March that OPWP had received prequalification entries for the Ghubrah project, and the client has now announced the list of companies which submitted prequalification entries.
The firms which submitted qualification entries are:
- Abengoa (Spain)/ Shumookh Investment & Services (local)/ Engineering Procurement & Project Management (Tunisia)/ Al-Bashair Investment Company (local)
- Acwa Power (Saudi Arabia)
- Cobra (Spain)/ FCC Aqualia (Spain)/ Majis Industrial Service (local)
- Engie (France)
- GS Inima (South Korea)
- Marubeni Corporation (Japan)
- Suez (France)
- Sojitz Corporation (Japan)
- Sembcorp Utilities (Singapore)
- Sumitomo (Japan)/ Malakoff International (Malaysia)
- Utico (UAE)/ IDB Infrastructure Fund (Saudi Arabia)/ United Water (local)
The client is currently evaluating the prequalification entries. Following the shortlisting of companies to be invited to bid for the project, the client will issue the request for proposals (RFP).
MEED reported in February that OPWP had appointed Netherlands-based KPMG as financial adviser, the UK’s DLA Piper as legal adviser and Germany’s Fichtner as technical adviser for the desalination project.
The planned IWP will have a capacity of 66 million imperial gallons a day (MIGD).
