Emaar and Armani team up

Dubai-based Emaar Propertiesand Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani are to team up to launch 14 luxury hotels and resorts around the world, the designer's company announced on 22 February. Giorgio Armani Spasays it has signed a letter of intent with Emaar for the project which will see the two companies combine to build ten hotels and four resorts in London, Paris, New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, Milan and Dubai.

Armani will oversee the design of the hotels and will also benefit from selling merchandise in the properties. 'There is a commitment that at least six of the hotels and two of the resorts will be completed and opened within five years,' a statement said. The Dubai Armani Hotel will include 250 suites, restaurants and a spa, and will cover more than 40,000 square metres.
