Burj Vista tower project is one of several major schemes planned for Downtown Dubai district

Local developer Emaar Properties has selected Athens-based Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) for the contract to build the Burj Vista towers in its Downtown Dubai district.

The project involves building two residential towers. One tower will have 65 storeys. The other will have 20 levels.

CCC was selected for another major Emaar contract in November last year. It is building the estimated AED700m ($191m) Dubai Modern Art Museum and Opera House District, also located in Emaar’s Downtown Dubai district.

In addition to the 2,000-seat opera house, the local develop plans to build new hotels, studios and leisure facilities in the area.

Burj Vista is just one of Emaar’s planned project in the district. It received bids in early June for the contract to build The Address Residence Sky View. The twin-tower complex will house a hotel, 532 residential units and service apartments. Each building will be more than 230 metres tall and will link directly to the Dubai Metro and Dubai Mall.

Canada’s Brookfield Multiplex is working on the raft foundation package. The local NSCC is working on the piling package.

The developer also received bids from contractors in early June for a project known as plot 54, which involves building another residential tower in the Downtown area.

In March, Emaar selected companies for two construction contracts totalling AED4.4bn ($1.2bn) in the district.

Lebanon’s Arabian Construction Company (ACC) was sent a letter of intent (LoI) for the estimated AED3bn contract to build the Address Residence Fountain Views development. The main construction package involves building three towers including a 220-metre-tall, 60-storey building.

The project is one of the largest building schemes in Dubai and the contract will be one of the largest construction deals awarded in Dubai since 2008.

Dutco Balfour Beatty was selected for the estimated AED1.4bn contract to build an extension to Dubai Mall. That contract involves building a fashion avenue next to the existing mall, the lake, Burj Khalifa and the existing Address hotel, offering 75,000 square metres (sq m) of retail space and about 25,000 sq m of parking.

In January 2013, Emaar awarded Brookfield Multiplex the contract to build the Address The BLVD hotel and residential tower.
