A $600m mega-tourism development venture between Emaar Properties and Bali Tourism Development Corporation in Indonesia's Lombok Island is now underway and is expected to be operational by 2010, Khaleej Times has reported. Minister Djoko Kirmanto, Indonesia's Public Works, said work has begun on the international airport on the island, while other infrastructure such as water distribution system, water treatment plant, roads and others are now in place. Lombok Island, which is less than an hour away from Bali Island, is being converted into a residential and resort community sprawling over 1,175 hectares.
