Emirates is to increase the number of flights to the Indonesian capital of Jakarta to two a day, in the latest expansion by the Dubai-based carrier.

The airline now operates 11 flights to the Indonesian capital each week. The extra flights will start from 1 March and will increase the volume of seats available on the route to 2,600 a week.

The airline said in December that it plans to add a further 17 flights to destinations in the Asia Pacific region in early 2010 (MEED 6:12:09).

Emirates also plans to launch direct daily flights to Amsterdam, Prague and Madrid later in 2010 (MEED 5:1:10).
