State-owned energy firm will launch Tawteen on 18 February

Qatar Petroleum (QP) has announced it will launch a campaign to localise its energy sector supply chain, and bring more small and medium enterprises into its supplier base.

The Tawteen campaign will be launched on 18 February 2019, QP has said.

The programme has been designed to improve efficiency and drive operational excellence from QP’s supply network.

It also aims at creating around 100 new investment opportunities within Qatar’s energy sector, which in turn is expected to create $2.2bn of import substitutes annually and create more than 5,000 new executive jobs.

By way of the Tawteen drive, QP is also looking to introduce its own In-Country Value (ICV) policy, which is designed to reward suppliers and contractors who execute their contracts and agreements by maximising local content.
