Bahrain’s Electricity & Water Authority (EWA) has received one bid for a transmission network consultancy contract.
ESB International (ESBI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ireland's Electricity Supply Board, was the only company to submit a bid for the work. The contract covers consultancy services for the development of a 400-kV transmission network.
ESBI submitted a price of BD3.3m ($8.9m).
In March, ESB signed another $12m engineering consultancy contract with EWA to oversee a project to upgrade the country’s transmission network.
The upgrade programme involves the construction of 39 substations as well as upgrading existing substations by adding or replacing 220kV and 66kV transformers and switchgears.
