Essa Abdul Fattah Kazim
Position: Managing director and chief executive officer, Dubai Financial Market (DFM); chairman of Borse Dubai
Biography Essa Abdul Fattah Kazim was appointed to his current roles at the DFM on 1 May. Prior to this he was director general, a position he had held since DFM was launced on 26 March, 2000.
The DFM operates as a secondary market for trading of securities issued by public joint-stock companies, bonds issuances and other financial instruments. Kazim started his career as a senior analyst in the research and statistics department of the UAE Central Bank in 1988.
He has a master’s in economics from the University of Iowa in the US. DMF is the Arab world’s only listed bourse. In 2009, DFM announced a $121m buyout of the emirate’s international exchange, Nasdaq Dubai. Borse Dubai is the holding company for DFM and Nasdaq Dubai.
