Cooperation to be increased on natural gas, renewable energy and infrastructure development
The EU and Algeria launched a political dialogue on energy at a meeting in Algiers on 5 May, signalling closer cooperation over gas production and exports.
European commissioner for climate action and energy Miguel Arias Canete and Algerian Minister for Energy & Mines Yousef Yousfi agreed to cooperate on natural gas, renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy market integration and infrastructure development.
As part of the dialogue, a group of experts on natural gas as well as a separate group that specialises in electricity, renewables and energy efficiency will be created.
