The invitation to bid for the main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts is also expected to be issued in the second quarter of 2019.

French design company Artelia is carrying out detailed engineering work for the artificial islands, while US-based Bechtel is in charge of feed work for all other facilities associated with the project.

Houston’s KBR is carrying out the project management consultancy (PMC) work for the feed phase of the project, which aims to produce a billion cubic feet a day of sour gas and associated condensate from the offshore Hail and Ghasha fields.

Contractors submitted letters to Adnoc Sour Gas in May expressing their interest in three packages that form part of the project.

Adnoc has already invited companies to bid for a contract to reclaim a series of offshore islands as part of the Hail and Ghasha megaproject.

The bid deadline for this package is 12 July.
