Saudi Aramco has issued the tender for the main contract to carry out rehabilitation and maintenance work on its pipeline infrastructure.

“The tender for this contract has been issued and the deadline [for submission] is 27 August,” according to a source.

As part of the project, Aramco is primarily seeking:

  • Maintenance of its 163 kilometre-long pipeline from Safaniya to the Berri gas plant.
  • Maintenance of the 37 kilometre-long pipeline from Qatif to Juyamah junction, 14 kilometres of which is to be replaced.
  • Provide cathodic protection to the pipeline network.

Aramco in May last year awarded the main contract for this project to India’s Essar Energy. However, the contractor quit the project for unknown reasons, leaving the client with a retender to issue.

Contractors thought to have pre-qualified for the project, include:

  • Tekfen Construction (Turkey)
  • Saipem (Italy)
  • Dodsal Engineering (UAE)
  • China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering (China)
  • Nesma and Partners (Saudi Arabia)
  • Denys (Belgium)

The value of the contract, per the source, is estimated to be around $250m.
