Firms that submitted a bid for the contract to build a breakwater and quay wall at Mina Khalid Port will give technical presentations this week to the client, Sharjah’s Department of Seaports and Customs Authority.
According to sources with knowledge of the scheme, firms that have submitted a bid for the contract include:
- BAM International (Netherlands)
- China Harbour Engineering Company (Chec) (China)
- Six Construct (Belgium)
- Overseas AST (local)
The contract covers the construction of a one kilometre quay wall and breakwater, together with dredging and reclamation works.
The project is part of the port’s overall expansion programme.
Six Construct won a $150m contract to build a new berth at the port in December 2016. The scope of the awarded contract includes dredging the port basin, construction of a cargo loading facility, a quay wall, marine rock revetment on the seaward perimeter of the reclamation area, and other related facilities.
The Belgian contractor then won another $80m contract for port’s expansion.
