EXCLUSIVE: Bidders wait for Adnoc to award well tie-in packages

The contracts relate to Adnoc Onshore’s new well tie-in scheme for the Rumaitha, Shanayel and Northeast Bab fields

Bidders are waiting for Adnoc Onshore to award two estimated $150m-$200m engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts for a new well tie-in project.

Offers were submitted for the two contracts in June and July and contract awards are expected in August. According to a source close to the project, the client is unlikely to award both packages to a single firm.

The first package covers tie-in of 19 wells for the Rumaitha and Shanayel fields. The second package is for the tie-in of 24 wells at the Northeast Bab field.

The bidders are understood to include:

  • Chiyoda CCC Engineering Limited (UAE)
  • Al-Asab Establishment (UAE)
  • Cat Group (Lebanon)
  • Adyard (UAE)

The project is part of Adnoc Onshore’s objective to boost output and optimise operations from its onshore assets.

The front-end engineering and design (Feed) work has been done in-house.

“The Adnoc Onshore team have gone through the process of going through certain drawings – the wellhead control panels, the wellheads itself, connections, flowlines, etc. Certain aspects of that are complete and form standard packages. All the tie-ins are not. Depending upon which wells are to be connected there are different flowlines, routings, and things like that,” the source explains.

Packaged drawings relating to standard wellhead structures, water injections and such, that engineering firms have done for similar projects on Adnoc fields in the past, have served as Feed documents for the current project, the source said.

“There is some existing infrastructure. It is the residual engineering that the main contractors are having to do. Construction-wise though, it is much bigger,” the source concluded.
