EXCLUSIVE: Contractors prepare bids for Dubai Hills interchange

31 May 2018
The Roads and Transport Authority has a set 10 June tender closing date

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has invited contractors to bid on 10 June for an estimated AED900m ($245m) contract to build an intersection serving the Dubai Hills development.

The interchange will be built on Umm Suqeim Road between Al-Khail Road and Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

The prospective bidders include:

  • Al-Naboodah Contracting Company (local)
  • DBB Contracting (local)
  • China State Construction Engineering Corporation (China)
  • Larsen & Toubro (India)
  • Mapa Gunal (Turkey)
  • Wade Adams Contracting (local)

The consultant is the UK’s Halcrow, which was acquired by US-based CH2M, which in turn was acquired by US company Jacobs.

The interchange will provide access to Dubai Hills, which is being developed by local firms Emaar and Meraas.

The Dubai Hills scheme covers an area of 11 million square metres and includes gated villa communities, a commercial centre and high-end retail facilities, as well as low-rise and mid-rise residences, hotels and serviced hotel apartments. There will also be schools, clinics, mosques and an 18-hole golf course.

The largest building project at the development is an estimated AED2.8bn shopping mall, the construction contract for which was awarded to Alec in early 2017.
