EXCLUSIVE: Contractors prepare bids for Dubai hotel

Five-star property will be built in Business Bay area

Local developer Omniyat Properties has invited contractors to bid by 13 June for the estimated AED800m ($218m) deal to build its Dorchester hotel development in Dubai’s Business Bay.

The prospective bidders include:

  • Alec (local)
  • HLG Contracting (local/Australia)
  • Kele (local)
  • Multiplex (Canada)
  • Shapoorji Pallonji (India)

The hotel property is understood to have a built-up area of about 132,000 square metres.

The property was designed by the UK’s Foster + Partners. The local Brewer Smith Brewer Gulf is the architect of record.

Omniyat recently awarded the estimated $200m contract to build The Sterling scheme, a twin tower residential project in Downtown Dubai, to the local Sun Engineering & Contracting. That scheme comprises two residential towers.

Established in 2005, Omniyat has a development portfolio worth more than $6.2bn, which includes other schemes such as The Opus, The Pad, One Palm, Langham Place and Anwa.
