Planned project will produce power and steam for Marjan oil field development

Developers are waiting to receive further news on the planned planned cogeneration independent steam and power project (ISPP) at its Marjan oilfield development.

MEED reported in February that state oil company Saudi Aramco had received expressions of interest (EOI) for the planned Marjan ISPP. According to sources close to the scheme, developers are waiting to hear from the client when the prequalification process will begin.

The cogeneration project is planned to have a power plant with a capacity of 700-900MW and steam turbines and heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) for steam production.

According to information ascertained from MEED Projects and sources close to the project, Germany’s Fichtner Consulting Engineers has been appointed as consultant for the project.

MEED recently reported that Aramco was planning to tender four major packages in September this year for the multibillion-dollar project to develop the Marjan field.

One package is for the construction of nine jackets for oil platforms, with the second package covering eight jackets for gas platforms. The third package is expected to cover four tie-in platforms (TPs), and the fourth package will include the construction of an estimated $4-5bn gas oil separation plant (GOSP).
