Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is considering developing a public-private partnership (PPP) programme for several healthcare facilities across the emirate.

According to sources familiar with the matter, DHA has appointed a consultant to assist with a technical feasibility study for the proposed programme and intends to tender contracts for financial advisory services in the coming months.

The healthcare PPP programme is expected to cover facilities such as radiology clinics and physiotherapy units.

Healthcare is the latest sector that Dubai is considering engaging the private sector in to develop important infrastructure schemes. In 2015, the emirate established the Dubai PPP Law (Law no.22 of 2015) to assist with the development of PPP schemes across various sectors and industries.

In 2016, Dubai Courts signed contracts for an estimated $80m project to convert a portion of the car park at the premises into an integrated development, the first project to be approved under the emirate’s PPP law.
