Abu Dhabi-based offshore fabrication firm Adyard is close to completing the installation of new electrical submersible pumps (ESP) at Abu Dhabi National Oil Company Offshore’s (Adnoc) Zakum oil field development.

Adyard was awarded the $80m-$90m contract for the works in early 2015.

“Adyard is finishing off the final power-up of the offshore platforms. That should be finished anytime soon,” a source told MEED.

As part of the upgradation contract, Adyard was required to replace the power-up systems, enabling the installation of new ESPs to boost development drilling.

The main subsea work had been done by other contractors previously. Adyard’s responsibility included providing connection for the ESPs and new electrical rooms, allowing set-up of the pumps.

The upgradation works are understood to be aligned with Adnoc’s strategic goal to raise production capacity from its offshore oil fields.
