Saudi Arabia’s Metro Jeddah Company (MJC) is expected to award the consultancy services contract for Corniche tram and water taxis and ferries public-private partnership (PPP) projects soon.
Sources familiar with the project tell MEED the contracts could be awarded before the end of 2018.
Companies that submitted bids for the Corniche tram and their offers are:
- Deloitte (US): SR7.90m ($2.1m)
- EY (UK): SR9.92m
The same firms submitted an offer for the water taxis and ferries scheme:
- Deloitte: SR8.54m
- EY: SR10.50m
MEED understands bids for the two contracts were submitted in early July.
Both EY and Deloitte submitted bids along with a legal advisory partner, sources familiar with the schemes tell MEED.
France-based Systra is the technical adviser for both projects.
The Corniche tram and water taxis and ferries projects are part of the multibillion-dollar Jeddah Public Transport Programme (JPTP).
Other components of JPTP are the four-line Jeddah Metro, Obhur suspension bridge, a three-line light rail transit (LRT), two lines of bus rapid transit (BRT), 11 park and ride facilities and one mixed-use commercial development.
