State-owned upstream operator Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) is expected to issue the invitation to bid (ITB) for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for its planned strategic gas pipeline project within days, according to industry sources.
“The list of prospective bidders has been approved,” said one source. “We are expecting the ITB to be released within a matter of days.”
Under current plans, the gas pipeline will have a 48-inch diameter and will extend for 150 kilometres.
The scope of the project will also include a compressor station.
Prequalified companies are:
- Hyundai Heavy Industries (South Korea)
- Saipem (Italy)
- SK E&C (South Korea)
- Daelim (South Korea)
- Daewoo E&C (South Korea)
- Tecnicas Reunidas (Spain)
- MW Kellogg (UK)
- Larsen & Toubro (India)
- JGC Corporation (Japan)
- SNC Lavalin (Canada)
- National Petroleum Construction Company (UAE)
- Samsung Engineering (South Korea)
Previously it was thought that the contract would be tendered in November 2017, but unresolved issues led to significant delays.
French engineering company Technip is Project Management Consultant.
