Kuwait’s Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) expects to tender 60 of the planned 107 apartment buildings for the Sabah al-Ahmad City in the first half of 2018.
According to a source familiar with the scheme, each of the apartment buildings will be six to eight storeys high.
The budget for this initial package is estimated to be KD100m ($330m).
It is understood these buildings are not part of the public-private partnership (PPP) package planned for the Sabah al-Ahmad City.
The PPP investment opportunities, for which firms are currently being prequalified, include:
- Residential units for lease, retail units, kids club and park
- Industrial area for light or medium industries, workshops for repair services and storage areas. The package includes the construction of four government buildings and labour accommodation
Sabah Al-Ahmad City is being developed on a total area of 4,000-hectares, located approximately 65km south of Kuwait city. It is envisaged to accommodate over 2,000 villas and a similar number of apartments as well as 52 schools and 70 mosques upon completion.
