19 July 2017

Road scheme is the latest to be tendered in recent months

Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has received bids from contractors for the construction of an intersection connecting the Jebel Ali to Lehbab Road with Emirates Road.

The low bidder is the local Al-Naboodah Construction with a price of AED569.4m ($155m), which is about 3 per cent lower than the offer of AED587.7m submitted by the local Wade Adams.

The other bidders are the local Dutco Balfour Beatty Group at AED592.3m, Turkey’s Mapa Gunal at AED597.7m, India’s Larsen & Toubro (L&T) at AED624.3m, and Beijing-based China State Construction Engineering Corporation at AED626.1m.

The contract is the latest interchange to have been tendered by the RTA in recent months. Most recently, it received bids on July 13 for an interchange serving the Dubai Expo site.

The lowest bidder for the contract, known as Package 2, is China State with a price of about AED605m.

In early July, the RTA awarded the first two contracts serving the Expo site to L&T. The contracts are estimated to be worth about AED1.028bn ($280m) combined. Contractors submitted bids for the contracts, known as Package 1 and Package 5 in May. L&T submitted the lowest offer for both.

Bids for Package 3 and Package 4 were submitted in June. L&T was again the lowest bidder for both packages with a combined price of about AED1.21bn.
