Oman’s Rural Areas Electricity Company (Raeco) has invited companies to submit expressions of interest (EOI) in a planned project to develop photovoltaic (PV) solar capacity at 11 sites across rural areas of the sultanate.
It is estimated that the total capacity for the 11 sites will be 42MW. Raeco plans to develop the capacity under the independent power producer (IPP) model. Developers have until 31 July to submit EOIs for the programme.
Raeco is planning to tender the 11 sites together, but a different tariff may be submitted for each individual project. The client has set a target of January 2019 to issue tender documents for the programme.
Raco currently provides power for about 38,000 residents.
