Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) is still evaluating proposals for the planned 100MW photovoltaic (PV) solar plant at Amin in the southern region of the sultanate.
MEED reported in August that the client had completed technical and commercial clarifications with bidders after receiving bids from eight groups in July. However, according to sources close to the project, PDO is still evaluating proposals and has not provided any further details to bidders.
The following developers submitted bids for the project:
- Acwa Power (Saudi Arabia)
- EDF (France)
- Engie (France)
- Marubeni (Japan)
- Masdar (UAE) / Total (France)
The solar plant is PDO’s first independent power producer (IPP) project. The company will be the sole offtaker and will buy all of the electricity produced by the solar farm.
The contract will involve the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of the solar plant for the duration of the 23-year power-purchase agreement (PPA).
