EXCLUSIVE: Turkish firm wins metro works contract

Metro line follows the same alignment as the $2.1bn Al-Khor Expressway

Turkey's Tekfen Construction has been awarded the contract to build platform for track works of the Doha Metro Red Line North extension.

The works will extend from the under-construction Red Line North to the planned metro station in Al-Khor.

The track follows the same alignment as the $2.1bn Al-Khor Expressway, which Tekfen won in 2016. The expressway is expected to be completed in 2019.

Contractors are preparing to bid for the contract to build a metro station in Al-Khor linking with the Al-Bayt stadium. which is being built for the 2022 Fifa World Cup.

The client expects to receive the bids for the metro station on 29 July.
