Several workers were also injured in the blast

An explosion at a petrochemical factory at Iran’s largest oil terminal has killed four people.

The oil terminal is located on Khark Island which is located 1,200 kilometres off the south coast of Iran.

High pressure in the central boiler of the factory caused the explosion and a fire at the factory, according to Iran’s official news agency Irna.

Khark Island is the site of Iran’s biggest oil terminal in the Gulf. Iran is Opec’s second largest oil exporter, producing around 4.2 million barrels of oil per day.
